Greetings and Happy New Year!!!

Another Peace on Earth Hunt has come and gone. As we begin the new year we take time to reflect. The Peace on Earth hunt seems to have been extraordinarily successful considering the number of hunts competing for our valuable time this year. As a result we are planning on POE3. (Important !! Please take time to read to the end ).

We are very grateful to you vendors for your dedication to the ideals of the hunt. First, for creating a good representation of your best designs, that not only created excitement in the hunt, but i know will bring you return visits to your shops. Second, for your keeping us informed of changes to your locations. We know that can be difficult to inform everyone when you are scrambling to put things together. Third, thank you for staying to the end. We had more hits (1080 hits!!! in one day) on the blog on January 1st, a day before the hunt was done, than almost any other day in the hunt. Proves the point that many do not have the time during the holiday rush to complete the hunt, therefore the need to keep up at least until the conclusion of the hunt.

A very special thanks to remarkabley patient Eileen Viliers who is the founder of the Hunters group and maintained the hints and was instrumental in keeping the lm path intact. Thank you also to her group of globe trackers (Kymsara Rayna,MincedMedia Clip, t1g3y Oh, Pudenta Magic and Pannie Paperdoll). Thank you to Inahime Spingflower for keeping track of all the lm and slurl changes and her many hours of bounding from store to store. Thank you to Beulah Mills for her help with blogging coordination among other things. Thank you to Opium Modeling Agency whose models were anxious and willing to blog the hundreds of gifts, many which of strayed well from the world of fashion. We will continue to maintain the hunt blog to give you promotion
( http://peaceonearthhunt.wordpress.com/) and continued association with this hunt. We also will continue to post your website presence (one per store). We also will be hyperlinking slurls to logos you will send us (read below for more on this).

You all were chosen after several visits by our selection committee and those that have stayed until the end should and will be rewarded with automatic entry into next years hunt provided these following things are followed.

1. Either remain in the Peace on Earth group ( where reminders will be sent periodically and you can continue to network ) or keep us updated by sending all information (store moves (slurl and lm), logo updates, or website changes) to Inahime Spingflower or Sequoia Nightfire in a notecard, name the notecard “POE3 [your store name]“. We do not have time to run down your new information.

2. Your store remains within the criteria specified in the application process located on the blog.

3. If you want to have your slurl posted to the website we are doing this by hyper-linking your logos if you would like to participate then you need to post your log to the Peace On Earth flicker group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/peaceonearth/ . Those participating will be automatic entrants into POE3 if both 1 and 2 are adhered to also.

I will continue to say how important it is to provide something for this Grid-wide event that good enough to sell as new and will be very proud of as a gift. This is a chance to reach a whole new group of customers and if you don’t do your best you will never know the joy of increased traffic. If you do a knock off or something that does not represent your best you not only cheat yourself, but you cheat those in the hunt before and after you that will make awesome gifts. There are a lot of hunts this year over the holiday season we need each of you to step up to the challenge so our wonderful fashion team from Opium agency does not feel that they are wasting their time. As soon as you are ready to have your item blogged send a full perms picture in a notecard with your name and the name of the business and a slurl to Anastacia Markova or Emma Portilo. POE2 ~ Peace on Earth Gridwide Hunt Application Process

The application process is closed thank you to all that applied. ALL VENDORS WILL BE POSTED BY NOVEMBER 10TH. If you are accepted you will be sent an invitation to join the vendors official group.

Acceptance of an application did not mean entrance into the hunt. We are happy that there was an enormous response and will be saddened to turn any away, but our experience leads us to believe the hunt will be attended and appreciated more if we keep to the criteria we specified from the beginning. Thank you for applying you all are appreciated and have been visited by more than one of our team to complete the selection process. The scrutinizing of placement into the hunt was a team effort, not an arbitrary process, several of the team visited your store to make sure you fit within the criteria and ideals we laid out in the blog. We encourage budding designers, unique content creators and most of all an attitude of excellence despite the experience of the designer or size of their shop to assure a positive experience which will bring the joy of the Holiday season to Second Life! Because of the number of hunts competing with Peace on Earth this year, we felt we could make it a more intimate hunt focusing on the purpose for which the hunt was founded. We would like to encourage growth to these ideals and if you feel like you would like to know how you might adjust to fit the criteria of the Peace On Earth hunt we would be more than willing to work with you to prepare for next years hunt beginning in January. POE2 Hunt Criteria

We are finding that some clarification is needed to help vendors understand who will be accepted to the hunt and why and who will be denied and why. We are absolutely thrilled by the outpouring of generosity in those that have applied, because as many of you know this hunt is unlike many because of the spirit of this hunt. The Spirit of Peace on Earth is about “GIVING”. That is Giving the best part of of who we are and how we celebrate the winter holidays that month of December and into the New Year. We expect the best out of each and every one of you and that the gift is representative of your best not something simple and thrown together. We are inviting only the best designers, whether they are big or small regardless of designing history, based upon the quality of product they carry in their stores and in the presentation of their stores. December is often a time of great artistic expression and we celebrate this by offering as wide a range of unique items; the more unique your shop the greater your opportunity to be included.

We are looking for shops that have items for women, men, tinys, furrys, the fashion followers, the rebels, landscaping, gadgets, housewares, and more. It is important to us to let each vendor know that the hunt they are joining will foster the best reputation of quality and will reflect well on them for being part of it. The criteria we set is not arbitrary it is designed to foster the greatest traffic possible to your stores and create that Spirit of the Season throughout the grid.

The Criteria:
1. No Resellers. Stores that are more than 25% reseller of other designers big store merchandise. We are looking for the unique designers of distinctive creative content.

2. No Clubs unless they offer a individualized service unique to SL that fits perfectly into the other criteria.

3. No Malls only businesses will be accepted, however Mall owners are encouraged to help owners so they may see increased traffic to their sim.

4. This is a PG friendly hunt no adult images or depictions of nudity (other than skin stores). No gratuitous violence, sex, explicit language, bondage or related equipment or paraphernalia within sight of the store hunt area.

5. The landmark landing zone should be within 20 meters of store entrance or 10 meters from a teleport board. Exceptions would be if half or more of businesses of a sim are participating or it is plain to see your business when landing.

6. More than one store may be entered under one owner under these guidelines.
A. The store must have a unique name and sell something completely different
B. If they share the same sim they will be combined as one entry into the hunt
C. Each store may offer a gift in each store and it will be labeled accordingly.

7. Quality and ingenuity of product is important!!! Stores are to be accepted by determination of whether hunters will be excited to find these gifts, not personal style of those making the determination.

What Is The Purpose?

The theme PEACE ON EARTH was chosen to draw upon the universal sense of unity that we feel during the holiday season. It is meant to be a festive hunt that all peoples can embrace. It will be an opportunity for a grid wide celebration of the diversity that is Second Life. We wish to foster understanding , tolerance, and respect throughout this global community.  We wish to promote those things which bring people together and will select from the applications we receive, the stores and gifts we feel best represent those ideals of unity and trust among nations,peoples, & their communities. We will turn down applications we feel do not meet the above criteria. We are a general audience friendly hunt and are proud to offer our Second Life communities a safe holiday celebration. Applications will be accepted until November 1st, 2009 11:59 PM SLT.

As a vendor you are encouraged to showcase something special about a culture (national or other) , ethnicity and/or faith based belief, Peace on Earth theme or something related to Peace in general. We encourage these gifts to be of a high quality to be truly representative of your best designs. Please remember the spirit of goodwill of the season. We believe that generosity will reap rewards in return visits.

These gifts you will place into the contents of a small earth globe which will be delivered to you. You will place them in your store or mall area, perhaps slightly hidden but manageable to be found in a reasonable amount of time. No altering of the globe and no hidden rooms. We will have a large number of vendors involved and want to make sure that all have an opportunity to be visited. There will be several starting points to allow for an opportunity to hunt without encountering terrible lag. We hope for Peace in our lifetime for our planet and will nurture it in our own pixelated world : )
